Who You'll Work With
You will be based out of our Houston office as part of McKinsey's Oil & Gas practice. In this role, you will be part of a team of exceptional advisory professionals with similarly deep Oil & Gas experience.
The Oil & Gas practice helps oil and gas companies accelerate sustainable and inclusive growth by guiding their journey to a more efficient and sustainable future. Combining novel growth strategies and operational excellence, fueled by digital technologies, we guide companies through lasting transformations.
Your impact within our firm
You'll leverage your successful track record of high-impact client service to strengthen and expand our impact through projects and client development, usually in a particular industry or functional practice.
You will consult for existing client service teams as well as top managers at client organizations, and with your sound expertise you'll provide leadership and direction. Within the firm, you'll be an entrepreneur who reinvents McKinsey and opens up new opportunities for client impact. You'll be a mentor and an advisor to developing consultants.
Additionally, as a member of McKinsey's global network, you will integrate insights from internal and external specialists, as well as develop world-class knowledge. You will be an important source of intellectual insight on a client project, framing business problems in a way that the team can then execute to drive impact and client value.
You will be responsible for identifying and developing new client opportunities to advise companies on transformational change and capability building. You will lead confirmed project teams on day-to-day problem solving, team management and client management, bringing in deep functional knowledge, expertise, and proprietary tools to every client situation.
In addition, you'll manage and develop strategic client relationships while ensuring the highest quality client work and be an inspiring leader who commits time to developing new consulting staff.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Undergraduate degree required, ideally in petroleum engineering or closely related field; advanced degree a plus (Masters or MBA)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in operations or strategy roles within the energy industry, experience in oil and gas markets a plus
  • Expert in carbon capture and/or decarbonization strategy
  • Experience utilizing analytics tools within scope of work
  • Outstanding performance track record and career development
  • Experience participating in or leading strategic projects, change management programs, commercial improvement programs and/or operational improvement projects
  • Strong business and industry acumen and problem solving on a global scale
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication (oral and written) skills

is $220,000 - $225,000 USD -to help you understand what you can expect. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest
[salary/hourly wages] for this role at the time of this posting, ensuring you have a clear picture right from the start, though it's important
to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current
organizational needs all play a part in determining the final figure. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey's discretion
and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
