How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

A Sleep Tech Lead, works under the general supervision of the of the medical Director (MD), sleep center physician or physician's assistant to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of a sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education.

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Coordinates staff and patient scheduling
  • Insures proper staff/patient ratios and scheduling needs are met
  • Oversees case preparation to include proper paperwork, chart set up, insurance authorizations, needed medical and sleep history present, as well as clarification of orders/procedures to be done.
  • Oversees workflow to insure diagnostic studies are completed and scoring is maintained per protocols.
  • Oversees orientation/training for new employees and provides support for staff training and education.
  • Provides input for staff performance appraisals.
  • Gathers and Analyzes Patient Information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Completes and verifies documentation.
  • Explains the pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to the patient.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy/protocols.
  • Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments, if necessary.
  • Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
  • Performs Polysomnographic Procedures
  • Follows procedural protocols for all types of polysomnographic studies performed at the sleep center to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • Follows "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxygemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.).
  • Data collection process (repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.)
  • Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Polysomnographic Record Scoring
  • Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
  • Scores clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) per center specific protocols.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings, outreaches and support activities.
  • Attends and participates in monthly staff and Sleep Conferences.
  • Attends and participates in medical or public educational outreaches.
What We Require:

Education: Completion of a Formal Sleep Training program or Associates Degree in a health related field required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years clinical experience in polysomnography required.

Licensure/certification: RPSGT by the BRPT required. Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required.Basic Computer Skills essential. Complies with BRPT Standards of Conduct. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position.
