The Global Business Services IT (GBSIT) team plays a critical role in managing and enhancing payroll systems that support our complex, global workforce. We are seeking a Manager of Payroll Systems to oversee timekeeping and payroll tools, integrations, and strategy.

This role is responsible for maintaining payroll applications and leading a global support team, including third-party vendors. The manager will collaborate with regional stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive system enhancements that improve business operations. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and a strategic business mindset.

Work Mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the IT point of contact for business operations.
  • Assist in developing and executing Payroll roadmaps and strategy.
  • Act as the Product Manager for payroll systems, conducting scrum ceremonies and prioritizing work for the team.
  • Ensure that payroll systems function correctly and efficiently, including regular updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Assist the business in ensuring payroll processes comply with relevant laws and regulations, including preparing for and managing audits, such as SOX audits.
  • Lead payroll-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and implementations, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve payroll processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Manage multiple vendor relationships where vendors execute business-critical operations.
  • Maintain flexibility with availability to address system issues and coordinate with various cross-functional teams.
  • Provide leadership in IT deliverables according to Boston Scientific Global Systems Methodology; support problem-solving and resolution of roadblocks.
  • Influence leaders and teams to deliver on plans.
  • Manage payroll-related product teams, providing coaching, support, and leadership while maintaining an inclusive culture.
  • Provide updates to senior management through frequent communications.
  • Provide training and support to payroll staff and other users of payroll systems, including creating user guides and conducting training sessions.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of IT management experience.
  • Experience with payroll systems and software, including SAP (HR & payroll modules), UKG Pro/Kronos (workforce & payroll management), and SuccessFactors (HR & talent management).
  • Expertise in system integration, data management, automation tools, and system upgrades, ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., SOX).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong financial analysis and data reporting skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (MBA preferred).
  • Experience in a large, global matrixed organization.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
  • Payroll-related certifications (e.g., CPP, FPC).
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to work independently and drive strategic initiatives.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
