The Director, HR Technology & Workforce Optimization leads the strategic development and execution of enterprise-wide HRIS systems and processes, workforce planning, workforce optimization (WO) and analytics strategies that address business objectives and improve enterprise decision-making. This is a highly visible role that works directly with business and HR leaders to develop, implement and administer WO and workforce planning strategies and leading-edge systems to support this work.

This Director, HR Technology & Workforce Optimization will:

  • Manage large cross functional team that oversees WO activities including HRIS system oversight, customer support and execution of reporting and analytics for enterprise leaders.
  • Establish the strategic direction and goals for WO to ensure proactive delivery of streamlined customer focused solutions that support strategic business goals.
  • Develop, implement and administer the enterprise-wide WO strategy, processes and technical solutions.
  • Provide strategic direction for the HRIS function and drive collaboration with WO, ISD, Human Resources, and enterprise leadership.
  • Oversee planning and deployment of HRIS and Workforce Management system implementations, configurations and upgrades.
  • Leverage the HCM platform and other HRIS and Workforce Management systems to deliver key human capital and workforce management analytics that inform decision-making.
  • Participate and lead planning activities for the WO Advisory Board, which is the cross-functional governance structure for enterprise-wide scheduling and timekeeping policies and practices.
  • Lead development of recommended changes to enterprise policies, processes and technology for approval by the WO Advisory Board to better enable Boston Children's to achieve its goals.
  • Oversee development and delivery of technical training for all end-users in collaboration with L&D and Clinical Education services where applicable.
  • Design and administer workforce planning methods and processes, including defining related reporting and analytics to inform and enable workforce decisions.
  • Develop metrics to gauge effectiveness of HRIS and Workforce Management processes and systems; identify improvement opportunities and deploy leading practices to drive adoption across system and in workforce utilization across Boston Children's.
  • Liaise with business and clinical leaders to sustain a strong and diverse talent pipeline by identifying capability gaps and reinforcing bench strength.
  • Serve as point of escalation for technology vendors and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee technology solutions to optimize performance and provide specialized technical and functional support to ensure requirements are met.

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree plus 10 years of experience, including significant experience in HRIS, workforce planning and workforce management.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong expertise in HR and workforce management systems and experience utilizing workforce management processes and systems (e.g., staff scheduling, predictive analytics and timekeeping solutions, Core HR, benefits, talent acquisition, LMS, compensation, HR compliance).
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills and experience interacting with key cross-functional stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a large cross functional team in a complex environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery models and an ability to translate talent strategy and workforce trends into operational practices
  • Kronos and PeopleSoft 9.2 experience required; WorkDay experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar methodology strongly preferred.
