The Department of Ophthalmology at Boston Children's Hospital offers the latest and best in diagnostics and care for children with vision problems, no matter how simple or complex. We specialize in treating cataracts in babies and children, traumatic eye injuries, juvenile glaucoma and a variety of other conditions and focus on patient-centered care. The Administrative Intern will be responsible for:

  • Working 20hours/week alongside the BCH Ophthalmology administrative team and their providers, this intern with start to learn the ins and outs of hospital administration. Focusing on helping the team with daily administrative tasks this internship will build competencies in patient communication/interaction, scheduling, chart prep/oversight, as well as many other aspects of Hospital Administration. Once the intern is trained and producing great work, there will also be opportunities to shadow other areas of the dept. where they expresses to their manager that they have interest, allowing for a more well-rounded overview of the different opportunities in healthcare.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Healthcare administration majors/minors preferred
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
  • Have the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.

Schedule: To be determined in coordination with supervisor/department needs. "Note that one 3-day technical training may be held for full days over the first 1-3 weeks that are on set days"
