Purpose
The Sales Insights Manager is a key member of the Business Excellence team and works closely with cross-functional departments, including Marketing, Sales, Value & Access, and Customer Experience Teams. This role plays a crucial part in driving the effectiveness of our sales force by providing actionable insights, performing advanced analytics, and optimizing territory alignment. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical expertise, a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, and a passion for utilizing data to stay ahead of industry trends. As an internal consultant to Sales and Brand leadership, this position will help guide strategic decisions through analytic guidance and insights. This role is based in Cary, NC, with the requirement to be on-site at least three days per week.
Main Responsibilities
- Sales Analytics & Insights: Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive intelligence to provide actionable insights that drive sales strategies and performance. Work closely with the Sales Force to identify opportunities for growth and optimize sales tactics.
- Territory Alignment & Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize territory alignment by analyzing sales potential, customer segmentation, and geographic considerations. Ensure that territories are structured to maximize coverage and efficiency, driving overall sales productivity.
- Sales Force Support: Provide dedicated analytics and insights to support our Sales Force, helping them to better understand market dynamics, identify key opportunities, and enhance their sales effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT and other departments to ensure data-driven decision-making across the organization. Provide insights that help these teams align their strategies and achieve business goals.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and other analytical resources that provide sales teams and leadership with real-time, actionable data. Ensure that these tools are user-friendly and tailored to the needs of the business.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve sales processes through data-driven insights, automation, and technology. Champion best practices in data management, reporting, and analytics.
- Ad hoc Analysis:
- Support ad-hoc analytics projects requested by Sales, Finance, Marketing, Business Development, Customer Experience, pipeline planning or other departments, providing insights that influence strategic decisions.
- Assist in scenario planning and identify both opportunities and threats through primary and secondary research and analytics.
Experience Required
- 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on sales analytics, business intelligence, or market research.
- Field sales experience and understanding of sales force dynamics are highly desirable.
- Proven experience contributing to large-scale, end-to-end business intelligence projects that drive business outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience with secondary data sources (e.g., IQVIA, claims data, EMR, GPO) and their use in pharmaceutical analytics.
- Expertise in marketing mix approaches, promotional effectiveness analysis, and/or sales force analytics to optimize sales strategies.
- ML/AL experience desired.
- Ability to lead, build partnerships, and foster cross-functional collaboration with a focus on open communication, constructive feedback, and organizational flexibility.
Education
