Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Regional Resilience & Planning Lead in the Gulf Coast to join our Baton Rouge office. Their role will lead planning for a variety of projects. Projects can be land and/or water. Land projects consist of development of plans for city expansion considering important factors such as population growth, protected areas and more. Water projects plans are flood-resilient urban and coastal area flooding, considering factors such as sea-level rise, hurricanes and tropical storms, heavy rainfall events, storm surge inundation, and other natural hazards.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain local relationships in the Gulf to accelerate our efforts to grow our normal resilience planning efforts both locally in Louisiana and regionally in the Gulf
  • Work with local, regional, national, and international offices on climate migration to add capabilities in their local markets as well as IFI/ADB marketing efforts
  • Bring expertise assisting communities with resilience planning including people migration/receiving communities' studies
  • Mange on-site investigations to determine factors affecting community development and potential decline including land usage
  • Oversee all levels of design from concept to construction details, as well as project and client management
  • Plan and design townships and cities promoting healthy and active lifestyles
  • Protect and preserve historical monuments and sites
  • Assist in planning and reviving low socio-economic areas within the district
  • Meet with industry experts to determine appropriate Disaster Risk Assessment plans for Emergency Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning; required
  • 15+ years of experience in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, and Natural Resources; required
  • 10+ years of experience in private sector consulting related to landscape architecture, urban planning and natural resources; required
  • Professional Landscape Architect (PLA/RLA) licensure in Louisiana or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required
  • Ability to analyze demographic data and identify trends in employment, health and other areas
  • Experience working in various database software programs including Microsoft Suite
  • Exceptional communication skills used when meeting with officials and presenting new plans
  • Detailed understanding of federal and local government programs and processes
  • Experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) software
  • Ability to conceptualize large-scale plans and established required milestones to complete projects
  • Professional work experience using a combination of creative and technical concepts in problem-solving
  • Full-scale understanding of the social and environmental effects of proposed plans and the best practices in design aesthetics
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally. Majority of work is office based.
