Purpose
Chiesi USA, Chiesi Rare Disease Business Unit, is seeking a qualified Head, Access Marketing to be part of a dynamic and growing Americas Market Access team with responsibility for the development of global pricing and reimbursement (P&R) strategies and integrated value platforms across multiple rare disease therapeutic areas in US, LATAM & Canada. This is a player/coach role as it will also lead the current US Payer Marketing & Strategy team for GRD. The role reports into the VP, America's Market Access. As a Leader within the America's Market Access team, you will lead the development and execution of access marketing activities to support patient access to our medicines by payers. You will also represent the team on cross-functional programs requiring collaboration, communication, and leadership. This is a strategic and management role leveraging your understanding and application of global and US health care systems, competitive insights, and clinical understanding, to shape market access, pricing, and reimbursement success. The ideal candidate has a deep applied understanding of US, LATAM & Canada Payer / HTA trends in the development of market access, pricing and reimbursement as well as successful value creation and communication within the biopharma industry. The role will be based out of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States.
Main Responsibilities
- Partner effectively with relevant support functions, regions and countries (if applicable) to execute on core deliverables (ex-specific market access or other tools)
- Represent the payer perspective within cross-functional, cross-regional commercialization teams including Marketing, Medical, HEOR, Policy/Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, R&D, and thereby optimizing the lifecycle of the GRD's inline products.
- Partner effectively with relevant departments (as listed above) to influence the market assessment, product positioning by providing strategic input regarding market access, reimbursement throughout the product life cycle.
- Contribute to the development of the specific P&R policy guidance and monitor country implementation with regional/global stakeholders within US, LATAM & Canada, ensuring GRD objectives are protected in launch & subsequent price review.
- Work closely with EU/Int'l GRD market access counterparts ensuring consistent feedback and optimization of deliverables including launch preparation, negotiations training, and contracting.
- Monitor the marketplace for market access issues, threats & opportunities, particularly for rare diseases, and research issues appropriately.
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high quality work products.
- Coordinate and oversee projects with external consultants. (as needed)
- Communicate frequently and effectively with GRD leadership and other identified stakeholders.
Experience Required
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience in a commercial, payer marketing function, (i.e. Managed Markets/Payer brand director, Dir of Pricing/Access) and cross-cultural P&R work experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry in market access.
- Experience managing high performance teams, minimum of 3-5 years
- Experience leading and managing teams and of working closely with senior corporate leaders.
- Effectively manage annual budgets and allocate resources accordingly. An in-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry is essential, as are demonstrated integrity on work-related compliance considerations and solid ethics.
- Commercialization experience (LATAM/Canada/US) within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
- Solid knowledge of global Access requirements and trends is essential, as is an in-depth understanding of payers and their perspective in the key markets.
- Experience with designing and/or implementing innovative P&R strategies for specialty or orphan drugs.
- Experience with rare diseases preferred
- Experience working in LATAM, Canada and US markets
- Self-directed and confident, with developed ability to build teamwork centered on shared commitment and goals to achieve high standards of performance.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and multifunctional resources concurrently while maintaining high attention to detail while responding to rapidly changing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook) Adobe. Additional experience working with payer formulary access platforms and other data driven interactive dashboards.
