St. Mary's is a 229-bed, acute care hospital located in Enid, OK. St. Mary's Regional Medical Center has served the healthcare needs of northwest Oklahoma for more than 100 years. Position Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing physical therapy services/treatments for patients under the supervision of PT in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. He/she assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Maintains appropriate documentation.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge and skill experience with a variety of diagnostic groups including, but not limited to, the following: orthopedic and arthritis related conditions; neurological groups including CVA, TBI, degenerative neurological diseases, SCI; generalized weakness as a result of medical or surgical conditions including DM, ESRD, amputation, COPD, CHF, and CABG.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal growth and development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (adult, geriatric) and diagnosis of patient services to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of IRF-PAI (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument) and the Care Tool and their application in payment system for CMS.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of management of patients with maladaptive behavior.
  • Communicates with supervising PT to facilitate development and update of goals/treatment plan that are comprehensive, realistic, measureable, and involve the patient and/or family.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively review the patient's chart and communicate/collaborate with multidisciplinary team members regarding patient's condition.
    Communicates with patient/family regarding role of Physical Therapy and expectations of patient.
  • Attends weekly team conference and participates in the discussion with the other team members in a constructive manner, supporting collaborative problem solving and identification of progress and barriers and interdisciplinary goal setting under supervision of PT.
  • Conducts self with professionalism and maintains ethical standards in communication with professional staff, patient/family; and strives to attain further knowledge and will educate others in their field on newly learned skills.
  • Student supervision is performed as required with concern and interest for the professional development of self and student.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Associates degree from APTA accredited school required.
  • Eligible for, or holds current Physical Therapist Assistant licensure to practice in the State of Oklahoma required.
  • Must successfully complete the Pre-employment assessment.
  • BLS required.
  • First Aid certification preferred.
  • Previous PTA experience in inpatient rehab or acute experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
