Primary Responsibilities:



  • Demonstrates competency and proficiency in performing all required examinations
  • Utilizes all required diagnostic equipment to produce scans of diagnostic quality
  • Works collaboratively with all departments and clinicians to accommodate patient care needs
  • Works collaboratively with off-site PACS Administrative Assistant to facilitate image transfer and Radiologist readings. Prepares images to import to Synapse as needed
  • Schedules UltraSound procedure appointments. Assists with maintaining department specific productivity standards. Provides proper preparation instructions as required for procedures. Verifies patient understanding
  • Reviews schedules at least 24-48 hours in advance


    • Verifies appropriate time frame for procedure (example: date from previous study, return instructions, etc)
    • Verifies correct order in place for procedure, seeks clarification from ordering clinician
    • Verifies appropriate time allotment for scheduled procedure
    • Confirms appointment and patient preparation instructions


  • Verifies all procedures and patients using at least 2 unique patient identifiers. Provides clear verbal instructions to the patient regarding exam preparation, positioning before and during the procedure and follow up
  • Performs infectious symptoms screening as mandated by company policy. Provides patients and visitor with mask if infectious symptoms reported and upon request
  • Maintains and upholds all infection control techniques and policies to prevent cross-contamination
  • Responds to Interdepartmental requests for scheduling. Accommodates special needs and urgent requests
  • Clearly communicates all pertinent exam information to interpreting physician
  • Routes current and previous images and paperwork to Radiologist for interpretation
  • Properly decontaminates exam room and equipment after each patient use. Logs disinfection process at least twice daily
  • Assists with scheduling UltraSound procedures and patient reminder calls. Verifies patient preparation instructions prior to examination
  • Maintains needed supplies in exam room. Conducts monthly inventory logs of supplies and expiration dates. Discards supplies prior to expiration date
  • Directly communicates concerns with department manager
  • Completes mandatory learning assignments within assigned timeframes. Maintains CME requirements. Remains up to date with all certifications
  • Works collaboratively with team, clinical department staff and providers to accommodate service

Required Qualifications:



  • ARDMS certification
  • BLS Certification
  • Certification in Diagnostic Sonographer



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Bilingual- Spanish



The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
