SUMMARY As part of the Performance and Essential Material (PEM) Team in North America, this is a key leadership position responsible for all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities for Region 4, which includes the Deer Park, TX, Argo, IL, Lakeland, FL and Stafford, TX sites. The HSE Manager is responsible for developing and implementing in line with PEM policies, procedures and programs, proactive management systems, checks and balances, and other necessary systems to ensure effective HSE compliance and continuous improvement of HSE performance within the region. Close collaboration with business, manufacturing and HSE governance teams is required to ensure stakeholder needs are addressed. Contributes as a member of the PEM North America HSE Leadership Team and acts independently under guidance from the Associate Director HSE PEM NA. This position requires frequent travel (up to 25%) to Region 4 plant locations and other locations as may be necessary in the performance of duties. This position is located at Deer Park, Texas. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk and climb; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently make minor decisions requiring limited judgement, general decisions in the absence of specific directions, and perform activities requiring sustained concentration. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate as primarily based in an office setting. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also occasionally be exposed to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
