Responsibilities
Principal and Director of Education Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer and all participating public-school districts, the Principal provides students with educational and behavioral programs that will enable them to reach their fullest educational potential, while rebuilding their self -esteem. The Principal is responsible for the consistency and high level of quality of the day-to-day operations within the school in regard to students, staff, curriculum, and environment. The Principal and Director of Education is responsible ensuring the needs of Innovations Academy students are met, while ensuring the department is working in full compliance with hospital policy and Illinois State board of Education Rules and Regulations. The Principal and Director of Education is responsible for ensuring that the SBHS Inpatient Education team meets the requirements related to provisions of academic services to children and adolescents receiving treatment in SBHS's inpatient hospital. Operating acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, outpatient facilities and ambulatory care access points, an insurance offering, a physician network and various related services located all over the U.S. states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom. www.uhs.com Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: REQUIRED - Master's Degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education, or a Type 73 School Service Personnel- School Social Worker Certificate and also have a Type 75 Illinois Administration Certification. A LBS-1 Special Education Certificate with a minimum of four years of previous teaching or counseling experience with children having special needs, preferably in a hospital or therapeutic setting. Knowledge and experience in education testing for grades K-12, demonstrated supervisory skills in a K-12 educational setting, and ability to establish community relations with schools, families and community agencies is required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Type 73 School Service Personnel- School Social Worker Certificate and Type 75 Illinois Administration Certification. A LBS-1 Special Education Certificate is also Required.
