Responsibilities

SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE

The Intake RN is responsible for responding to admission referrals and other requests for services and information. The Intake RN provides general support to UR and Social Services under the direction of the Lead Clinician and the Director of Admissions. The Intake RN has additional responsibilities in the medical screening of potential patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an RN
  • Washington State RN license or Compact License eligible to work in WA State
  • Mental Health Professional designation
  • BLS, Handle with Care, and Verbal De-Escalation certifications will be provided by INBH

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN
  • Experience in working with programs and outside referrals
  • Experience working in a mental health setting.

SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

All functions are essential functions unless otherwise noted.

The job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed below.

  1. Take referral calls, document details, and schedule assessments with P.A.T.
  2. Complete psychiatric assessments as needed.
  3. Handle information requests and external referrals.
  4. Provide information to referral sources.
  5. Assist with patient admissions, including notifying relevant departments and entering information into the system.
  6. Process necessary releases of information.
  7. Obtain required patient documents and records.
  8. Maintain assessment and referral statistics and data.
  9. Document incoming referral calls and their outcomes.
  10. Ensure good customer service.
  11. Apply medical clearance criteria for admissions.
  12. Review medical information to determine patient stability and conduct RN consultations.
  13. Provide initial medical screening for unscheduled assessments and consult with medical staff for emergencies.
  14. Take and transcribe admission orders from medical staff.
