Schedule Details:This 1.0 FTE commits to 40 hours per week. Hours are from 0500-1330 M-F with a every 4th weekend rotation.
This is not a seasonal or temporary position.

About Us:

ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. The laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.

Our Lab services operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology. ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, nursing home, and assisted living facilities. Our Pathologists and PhDs work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, as well as identify, access, and implement new technology. The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).


What You Will Do:

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, processing, and distribution of laboratory specimens from inpatients, outpatients, and outside clients. Maintains proficiency of the laboratory and hospital information systems. Performs and results waived testing. Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and nurses or other healthcare providers. Must have the ability to work at various PHC Lab locations as needed.

Responsibilities:



  • Monitors refrigerator and incubator temperatures.
  • Produces a volume of work in accordance with the productivity objectives of the department. Accomplishes job-related functions within requested or necessary timeframes.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement processes through proactive team interactions and problem-solving. Identifies workflow inefficiencies and works in partnership with management to improve operations.
  • Flexible with work assignments, willingly assists team members throughout the lab. Responds positively to change.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new team members and students in specimen processing.
  • Builds and maintains professional working relationships with team members, other hospital departments, customers, and patients. Negotiates work-related issues utilizing good interpersonal skills effectively.
  • Maintains department specific and organization-wide competence through attendance at and timely participation in mandatory and other job-related educational opportunities. Maintains proficiency in all department procedures.
  • Performs assigned job functions in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Completes documentation appropriately when incidents occur.
  • Assures effective communication between shifts with co-workers and Manager regarding workflow, specimen processing, and customer issues.
  • Complies with work expectations and all organizational policies, including adherence to attendance and starting/ end time, utilization of personal protective equipment and handwashing guidelines



Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
