Responsibilities

What You Will Do: In this role you will assist with the execution of all types of internal and external facing events - from virtual format to in-person events such as small intimate client program dinners to major sponsorships. As you grow within the team, you will build your knowledge of Orrick's firm strategy and market-leading practices - specifically developing a better understanding of how a particular event speaks to business development and relationship building objectives within a practice and the firm generally. In addition to preparing for practical logistics needs, you will support reporting related to client and prospect attendance and contribute to event debriefs that explore what went well, what we can improve and overall ROI rating. You will regularly collaborate with team members across the firm, including lawyers, Sales, Client and Sector & Markets teams and other operations staff.

Essential Position Responsibilities

Event Planning

  • With supervision, support virtual and live events from point of inception through close out, collaborating with event stakeholders, vendors, and other internal departments
  • Establish needs, goals, responsibilities, and budget in advance of event
  • Serve as main point of contact for event planning, data, and post-event follow-up
  • Manage all logistics with internal departments or appropriate vendors on venue, food and beverage, AV/IT needs, materials, name tags, signage, ordering swag, etc.
  • Manage promotions on internal tracking calendar, Orrick.com and Orrick portal
  • Lead the creation and deployment of invitations as well as RSVP and post-event attendee tracking via CRM
  • Partner with internal departments on event needs including promotion, design, content creation, communications and CLE
  • Propose, order, and manage process for client takeaways and gifts (including branded items)
  • Serve as regional resource for onsite logistics and offsite venues
  • Onsite Coverage
  • Some travel required as needed
  • Oversees event set up and breakdown
  • Coordinates onsite staffing
  • Manages registration
  • Main point of contact to troubleshoot day-of logistics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of event planning experience is required; professional services background a plus
  • Team player who enjoys a high-paced environment and multi-faceted job responsibilities
  • Work effectively with and gain the confidence of people at all levels of an organization
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills who can work independently at times
  • Key contributor to positive team environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent technical skills and/or being open to learning and working with proprietary event management and database tools
  • Integrity, tact, and professionalism in dealing with sensitive information and maintaining client confidence.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, results-driven environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $53,000 - $69,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
