Overview
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician engages in preparation, control and distribution of medications. Performs other pharmacy service duties as assigned. Qualifications Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) (NHA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Licensed Pharmacy Technician - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Education: , Work Experience: Greater than 2yrs retail Responsibilities Assist pharmacist under direct supervision in the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patients. Performing technical tasks such as filling, compounding , reconstitution and labelingEnter patient information accurately into pharmacy computer system, including, but not limited to, patient's address, patient's phone number, patient's allergies and patient's date of birth. Enters correct medication information, including, but not limited to, medications, strength, route, number of refills and physician name.Enter and process new prescriptions and refills. Fill medication orders in an accurate and timely mannerPerform calculations needed for prescription input and dispensingPrioritize work to fill prescriptions in order of importance. Initials Rx labels on all prescriptions.Correctly identify patient per protocol prior to dispensing medication. Offers patient counseling by a pharmacist prior to completing transaction.Follow department procedures for maintaining drug and supply inventoryRemove expired medications, rotate stock, clean and organize assigned areas on a regular basis.Perform prescription returns and insurance reversals on a regular basisKeep pharmacy manager and pharmacist-in-charge informed of shortages, abnormal use and recalls.Respond to phone call inquires and walk-up service requests, resolving issues or redirecting them appropriatelyProperly uses department equipment including but not limited to point of sale equipment, pill counters and vendor software.Dispose of waste in the proper containers. Able to locate MSDS Sheets online.Actively supports the mission, goals and objective of the hospital and pharmacy department through CQI activities.Maintain appropriate licensure requirements, continuing education requirements, competency requirements and updates knowledge/ skills on regular basis. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $17.33per hour - $28.07per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
