The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides planning and service to patients and physicians in order to facilitate the scheduling and performance of procedures.

Responsibilities

Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to project a professional, pleasant image, while interacting with a variety of personalities and cultures. Demonstrates tact and diplomacy and has strong oral and written communication. Must be able to problem solve effectively with coworkers, accept and institute change, and plan and prioritize.
Essential Functions
  • Facilitates the scheduling of procedures within a hospital or out-patient surgery center.
  • Proactively identify potential problems with cases that are missing information and discrepancies in type of procedure, surgeon, and times.
  • Coordinates scheduling of procedure suites with the provider, anesthesia services, and ancillary services.
  • May conduct financial discussion with patients regarding fees for surgical procedures and collect surgical deposits, as per departmental guidelines.
  • Serves as a resource to other staff regarding scheduling functions and participates in training other staff to cover during absences or anticipated vacancies.
  • Schedules pre-procedure H&P's per policy MS503.
  • Create new patient account and input medical insurance as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Mans DHI check-in at front desk during downtime per department needs

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $18per hour - $29.13per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
