Position Overview:

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Talent Management Specialist. This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing programs that drive employee development, engagement, and performance excellence. This role focuses on optimizing performance management strategies, creating learning initiatives, and aligning talent management efforts with business objectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

The Talent Management Specialist will collaborate with the Talent Management Manager and M.C. Dean business unit executives to align talent management strategies with organizational goals, including understanding the strategic direction of the company, the strategic and operational priorities, and the strategic direction and priorities of HR to design and executing learning and career development solutions that drive business performance and improve the employee experience.

Location: Onsite in Tysons, VA

Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Support the design, management, and delivery of learning and development programs, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and employee growth opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including researching, selecting, and coordinating with training providers to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Oversee training logistics, including scheduling, enrollment, materials preparation, and venue coordination for in-person and virtual learning programs.
  • Design, deliver, and manage learning programs, workshops, and resources to enhance employee capabilities and leadership skills.

Performance Management & Performance Evaluation

  • Design, implement, and manage performance management programs, including goal setting, feedback mechanisms, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop tools and training to support managers and employees in conducting effective performance discussions and career development planning.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, providing insights to leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to ensure performance management aligns with organizational goals and drives employee engagement.

Succession Planning

  • Support succession planning efforts by assisting in the identification of high-potential employees, tracking readiness, and coordinating structured development plans.
  • Facilitate data collection and reporting for leadership calibration sessions, providing insights on employee development, performance trends, and succession readiness.

Career Progression

  • Assist with the promotion process, ensuring alignment with business needs, talent review cycles, and employee career aspirations.
  • Help employees and managers navigate career pathways, offering guidance on available development opportunities and career planning tools.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Years of experience combined with education, designations, or certifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8-10 years of experience in talent management, learning & development, or performance management.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas; performance management systems, succession planning, and learning & development.
  • Experience designing and delivering training programs, both in-person and virtual.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of talent management initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

The nature and extent of skills and competencies required to achieve the goals of the position.

  • Certification in talent management (e.g., CPLP, SHRM-CP/SCP, or similar) highly preferred.
  • Experience with change management frameworks such as ADKAR or Prosci.
