Description

Lead Driver For Transportation Program

General Summary:Supervision all Transportation drivers. Work involves working closely with Front Desk Schedulers to coordinate daily runs, assigning drivers and runs, scheduling drivers including vacation and sick times, maintaining vehicles, training new drivers and TBH staff, and operating Thrive vans seating approximately 10-15 people, to transport passengers to prearranged destinations.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Prepare a daily schedule for trip logs through Microsoft Excel a day in advance.
  • Utilize MTM Link software for GPS and traffic patterns.
  • Prepares work schedules including revisions due to vehicle repairs, or drivers who are sick or on vacation.
  • Identifies and reports vehicle maintenance and repair needs to the Transportation Manager.
  • Responsible to train new drivers and staff on the proper use of Thrive vehicles and road safety.
  • Performs safe and on-time transportation of clients in all types of traffic and climatic conditions.
  • Operates and drives vehicles in strict accordance with the rules of the road.
  • Inspects general operating condition of vehicles daily and reports unsafe conditions and any damage according to policy and procedure.
  • Coordinates vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Attends appropriate transportation meetings.
  • Maintains vehicle operating records.
  • Reports any traffic violations and document incident reports when needed due to vehicle breakdowns, interruptions in service, or accidents to the Transportation Manager.
  • Assists passengers entering and exiting the vehicle, including guiding and securing wheelchair users and other disabled or elderly individuals.
  • Perform shipping/receiving as necessary.
  • Provide documentation as required and consistent with Thrive and MTM standards.
  • Review voicemail and e-mail account(s) daily for new messages.
  • Register transportation requests from clients on the MTM portal.
  • Complete all MTM daily billing.
  • Equip all vans with appropriate supplies as needed.



Additional Responsibilities:



  • Attend all agency/department-required training and meetings within the prescribed period.
  • Attend all Safety Training programs and be able to describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all clients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Competencies:

High School graduate or equivalent required. Three (3) to six (6) months related experience required.

Certifications, Licenses Requirements:

Valid Chauffeur's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required.

Meet training and certification requirements of transportation contracts.
