HOLT CAT in Irving, Texas is looking for an experienced field welder on heavy equipment with line boring experience. This position requires no less than 5 years of heavy equipment welding experience plus advanced line boring skills. This position is responsible for providing heavy equipment welding repair service in order to meet our customer needs. This position will travel around DFW Metro and surrounding counties in company trucks in order to provide excellent service to our customers. Overnight travel will be required as needed. This position is responsible for providing equipment welding repair service in order to meet our customer needs. CDL Class B required. Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing equipment welding repair service in order to meet our customer needs. This service needs to be performed in a positive, caring, and timely manner. A qualified candidate must build rapport with customers through technical expertise and quality service on equipment so that service value is reached. The responsibilities include:



  • A self-motivated, and thoughtful individual with a high energy level who is able to work well in a field environment and able to get along well with customers and other employees.
  • Must be capable of performing complex welding - stick and flux-core welding repairs correctly.
  • Must be able to perform line boring procedures in a field or shop environment.
  • Must have verifiable experience with heavy equipment welding
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.


Qualifications:



  • Must have at least 5 years of welding experience with a Stick, MIG, Flux core, and others.
  • Must have welding verifiable experience on heavy equipment
  • Must be able to perform line boring procedures in a field or shop environment
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and OEM specifications
  • Must be able to do mathematical computations
  • Must be able to pass a welding test
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must be able to work required hours.
  • Must be able to utilize computer software to generate reports and quotes for customers.
  • Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings to the manager and supervisor.
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to the exact position
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in a mechanical repair
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • The ability to read, write, and understand information
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences


License:



  • Must have a valid driver license, Class B CDL is preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 180 days of hiring
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and maintain a medical card
  • Must have a safe driving record


Education:



  • Technical schooling preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Welding certifications preferred


Travel:



  • Traveling will be required for this position, within 150 mile radius of Irving, Texas
  • Overnight stay may be required


Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds


  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment


  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment


  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work


Work Environment:



  • Regularly works outdoors or indoors around moving mechanical parts


  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity


  • Noise level may be loud at times


  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment


  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment


  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
