Job Summary |
The Laboratory for Healthy Social-Emotional Development is hiring a full-time Research Assistant I to begin in the summer of 2025 (PI: Dr. Alva Tang). The Research Assistant will work in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas (
UTD) main campus in Richardson (bbs.utdallas.edu). The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to work on studies examining adolescents' processing of social information and social media content, and to oversee day-to-day activities in the lab.
Applicants interested in attending graduate school or pursuing a career focused on research in developmental psychology, neuroscience, or clinical psychology are encouraged to apply.
This position is initially funded for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of renewal. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services environment. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Education/ Human Development or a related field.
- Experience conducting research with humans, collecting data with EEG or other kinds of neuroimaging techniques, experience working with children and/or adolescents and families
- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participant recruitment, coordinating lab visits for adolescents, and acquiring data from adolescents and parents using behavioral observations, EEG experimental tasks, cognitive assessments, semi-structured clinical interviews, and surveys.
- Data management (e.g., working with RedCap and Qualtrics), maintaining a database, and coding and analyzing data.
- Lab management (e.g., writing lab protocols, IRB amendments, participant reimbursements, training undergraduate students).
- Community engagement and building relationships with community partners (e.g., attending recruitment functions, assisting with advertisements).
- Manuscript preparation with authorship opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
