Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Pulmonary Rehab/Pulmonary Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist to join the team. This role is part-time Day shift 20 Hours per week with no weekends.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Administers or supports pulmonary diagnostic testing for patients based on ATS standards
  • Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidity and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review.
  • Develops Individual Treatment Plans through physical assessment and testing to include exercise and strength training programs, patient education and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes for each patient.
  • Provide multimodal patient education for patients based on individual treatment plan
  • Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Completes patient assessments for disease specific risk factors and clinical needs which may impact the Individual Treatment Plan, as evidenced by random chart review.
  • Provides validation of clinical decisions for other team members.
  • Supports and engages in clinical outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizes standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery.
  • Supports process for delivery of care from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration.
  • Supports additional projects and duties as assigned.


Additional Requirements:



  • Six months in a critical care environment or one or more years of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation as a practicing Respiratory Therapist
  • Graduate of an accredited CoARC (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory care program.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Care or or more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist as defined by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support from AHA upon start
  • Advanced Certifications (ACLS, PALS or NRP) must be obtain within one year from date of hire
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Work Schedule - Part-Time 20 Hours Per Week Day Shift
