Job Summary

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the Quality and Regulatory Affairs department in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and communicating internally regarding customer complaints. This role involves administrative duties, document control, internal communication, and assisting in the maintenance of food safety and quality assurance policies and programs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews food safety plan and hazard analyses for animal food facilities
  • Coordinates with Preventive Control Qualified Individuals (PCQls) to update Food Safety Plans as facility operations, processes, and raw materials change
  • Assists with training PCQls with food safety plan development and updates
  • Participates as a member of the Darling Quality Assurance and Product Safety Tearn supporting facility management to ensure ongoing compliance to applicable federal, state and local regulations affecting animal food products
  • Supports and assists facilities with questions and/or problems regarding food safety and quality complains
  • Acts as a point-of-contact for customer complaint entry, tracking, and management
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 to 3 years in an administrative role; preferably in related industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food, animal feed, and/or companion animal food safety, quality assurance
  • Work well with others in a team environment
  • Highly organized; attention to detail; self-motivated
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral
