Overview

The Quality and Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership for MEC's Quality and Engineering functions. This position will initiate continuous improvement in processes and procedures, assign projects, and provide direction and support to the staff. As a senior leader, the Manager of Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for the development of a strong team that thrives in a dynamic and and fast-paced environment.



Responsibilities

    Establishes the vision and strategy to drive excellence in the Quality and Engineering teams. Leads the creation and implementation of the quality and engineering department's strategic plans.
  • Leads the engineering and quality functions, managing expenses, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting corporate goals (e.g. revenue growth, profitability).
  • Manages issues specific to customer markets such as aggressive product launch cycles, the need for creative product design and unique product components.
  • Collaborates with all functional areas in the company to assure processes are effective and efficient at meeting quality standards and expectations set by the customer.
  • Drives new engineering and quality concepts, techniques, standards and procedures. Acts as a change agent in development and improvement of business processes.
  • Ensures the optimal application of technology, quality and engineering resources to meet customer product development requirements per the sales plan.
  • Assesses, designs, develops, implements and evaluates Management Systems to conform to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and presents information concerning factors such as production capabilities, manufacturing problems and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of the MEC team.
  • Manage site CAPEX portfolio ensuring safe execution of capital projects from conceptual design to handover according to MEC Standards
  • Plans, defines, monitors and improves quality metrics, goals and objectives. Monitors product quality through audits, returns, inspection, cost of poor quality reports and customer score cards.
  • Coordinates the root cause failure analysis related to customer product quality issues and effectively communicates resolution to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (any discipline) and a minimum of 5 - 7 years of engineering/quality management in a manufacturing company. 3+ years experience working in contract manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding, assembly and/or finish paint.
  • Experience in engineering/quality management systems and processes. Experience with quality improvement tools (Lean Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge and experience with an ERP system.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to build relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce a high-level work product within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Leadership experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from conceptualization through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 10%)
