The Coder Analyst I is responsible for supporting coding efforts for documented encounters, research and compliance. Assists in auditing documents and identifying billing issues.

**This position will focus on Orthopedic surgical coding.**

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in assigning codes documented patient care encounters for reimbursements, research and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support auditing/reviewing of medical documentation for appropriate coding and documentation.
  • Respond to queries from relevant parties (e.g., physicians, patient care providers), related to coding, documentation and billing, escalate to senior team members as needed.
  • Support identification of discrepancies, potential quality of care, and billing issues.
  • Adhere to appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree (e.g., Business Administration, Information Services) or any health related field of study required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Health Information Management environment, using various coding systems (e.g., ICD-9, ICD-0, CPT), preferred.
  • Some experience/working knowledge in health plan/provider office medical billing, coding, and submission operations, preferred.
  • EPIC experience a plus
  • 2 years experience in Orthopedic clinic and Orthopedic surgical coding strongly desired
  • Professional certification (e.g., RN/RHIA/CPC/CPCS/NAMSS) preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Coder Analyst I (Orthopedic Coder).
