DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Staff Physician 2, your primary responsibility will be to deliver medical care to the patients of Wernersville State Hospital. You will be responsible for treating physically ill patients and performing various medical tasks, including conducting annual physical and neurological examinations for patients in your designated area. You will identify medical treatment requirements of patients and facilitate their transfer to community hospitals for emergency or non-emergency medical treatment. It will also be your duty to ensure the Psychiatrist and Treatment Team are informed of patients with medical illnesses and their ongoing treatment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have varied days off and work every other weekend.
  • Works on-duty physician coverage as scheduled and overtime as needed.
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience and/or training in the practice of medicine.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Medicine Board, or the State Osteopathic Medicine Board.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
