Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Job Duties
This position will report to the Department of Nursing Science Chair and serves as the Assistant Chair and PhD Program Director to the department. This position collaborates with PhD faculty to provide oversight of PhD program curriculum to ensure program standards are being maintained.
Works with the Department Chair to facilitate the administrative oversight of the department and may assist with faculty evaluations.
Completes reports required for program review.
Works with Department support personnel to facilitate admissions to the program.
Maintains accurate database of current students.
Participates in applicant interviews and reviews applications of prospective students.
Ensures each advisee's program of study is accurate and current in facilitation with PhD faculty advisors.
Assists in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and recommends modifications to improve effectiveness.
Evaluates curriculum content and makes recommendations for revisions as needed.
Assists in ensuring clinical agency contracts have been finalized prior to student placement for research.
Participates in scheduled committee meetings with program and departmental faculty..
Provides input for recruitment, publicity, and public relations activities.
Participates in activities to create effective communication and community building within the program with both students and faculty.
Provides oversight to ensure advisees are appropriately registered for classes.
Works with faculty advisors to monitor student progress (i.e. grades, incomplete work, graduation, etc.)
Collaborates with dept. chair and program faculty regarding student issues and other curriculum and program-related matters.
Teaches within the program as needed, responsibilities include planning, teaching, and evaluating primarily online PhD courses. The position may also involve direct supervision of students in the clinical setting.

This appointment is contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
Current College of Nursing faculty member with rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/or Professor within the department of Nursing Science.
PhD in Nursing, 2 years nursing practice experience.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
5 years in nursing practice, 2 years of education in an academic setting. 1 year experience as concentration director or assistant director in an academic setting.
Training/Education Software skills: Canvas or other Learning Management System, Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint), computer literacy, academic writing proficiency, grant writing, 2 years leadership experience.
License or Certification Required by the Department
