Description

The Associate Vice Provost-Academic Affairs is a key strategic leader within the Academic Affairs division, reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President. This position provides visionary leadership in academic program development, faculty affairs, and strategic initiatives that advance the institution's academic mission. The Associate Vice Provost-Academic Affairs collaborates with deans, faculty, and administrative leaders to ensure academic excellence, promote innovative teaching and learning, and foster student success. This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively balance strategic planning with operational oversight while championing academic quality and institutional effectiveness.

The annual salary for this position starts at $135K +.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

1. Administrative Leadership:

  • Support the Provost in developing and implementing the college's strategic directives
  • Lead project prioritization and resource allocation processes
  • Represent academic affairs in institutional committees
  • Collaborate with student services and enrollment management
  • Serve as liaison between academic affairs and other divisions
  • Foster academic partnerships and collaborations with other divisions at the college
2. Academic Leadership
  • Manage academic affairs budget and resources
  • Supervise assigned academic support units
  • Provide oversight and direction to the deans for academic programs and initiatives
  • Lead academic innovation efforts
  • Guide academic policy development and implementation
  • Support Instructional Managers in faculty-related matters
  • Monitor faculty workload policies and practices
  • Lead faculty professional development initiatives
  • Direct academic strategic planning processes and implementation
  • Lead budget planning and allocation processes with academic deans
  • Ensure efficient use of financial, human, and physical resources
  • Oversee program review and assessment activities
  • Champion new program development and academic pathways
3. Fiscal Leadership and Oversight:
  • Lead annual budget development process with academic units
  • Analyze key metrics including financial data to inform resource allocation decisions
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation
  • Collaborate with finance division on budget planning and management

4. The Associate Vice Provost of Academic Affairs will work collaboratively with the Associate Vice Provost of Student Affairs to ensure alignment between student support initiatives and academic priorities. This partnership is essential for creating a cohesive educational experience that addresses both the academic and non-academic factors influencing student success.

5. Monitors changes in the educational system and respond in a timely and appropriately.

6. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree required; doctorate preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive administrative experience in higher education with at least five of them as an academic dean
  • Proven experience managing large-scale budgets and resources
  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation
  • Evidence of effective collaboration with other college divisions
  • Experience in a community college or two-year technical college setting
  • Background in faculty development and support

Supplemental Information

The Associate Vice Provost position supports the Academic Affairs and is available to start on July 1, 2025.

Salary
Salary will be determined based on relevant experience, and review of internal equity.
