Position Summary:
The IP Licensing and
Marketing Manager will drive the commercialization of the University's innovations.
This position combines strategic IP management with proactive marketing and
business development, ensuring NJIT's intellectual property assets reach their
full potential in the marketplace. The role will identify promising
technologies, market them to potential partners, negotiate licensing
agreements, and manage the financial and administrative aspects of the IP
portfolio.

Essential Functions:
Identify Promising NJIT
Innovations:
-Engages with faculty, researchers, and students to identify new technologies with commercial potential.
-Conducts thorough intellectual property and market opportunity assessments.
-Advises on IP protection strategies and pursues commercialization opportunities.

Market NJIT Technologies:
-Develops and executes comprehensive marketing strategies to promote university technologies to prospective licensees.
-Utilizes various channels, including direct outreach, web platforms, third-party networks, and AI-powered tools, to generate high-quality marketing content and campaigns.
-Gathers market feedback to inform IP strategy and refines commercialization plans.

Negotiate NJIT Options and
Licenses:
-Identifies and evaluates potential licensees based on their commercialization capabilities and commitment.
-Negotiates and executes licensing agreements, options, and other business agreements that maximizes commercial and public benefit.
-Manages the execution of NDA's, MTA's, IIA's and other related agreements.

Manage Financial and IP
Data:
-Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all IP and licensing activities in the office database (e.g., Minuet).
-Manages financial accounts related to license agreements, including reporting and reconciliation.
-Ensures compliance with license agreement terms and conditions.
-Coordinates with legal counsel, IP firms and other external stakeholders.

Business Development and
Partnership Building:
-Develops and maintains relationships with industry partners, investors, and other stakeholders.
-Develops strategies to attract private sector engagement and fosters collaborative partnerships.
-Provides educational programs and outreach to internal and external stakeholders on IP commercialization.
-Contributes to the strategic direction of the TTO, including participation in relevant committees.
-Any additional responsibilities as required by management.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or business-related field (advanced degree preferred).
-4-6 years of experience in technology transfer, IP management, licensing, business development, or related fields.
-Strong knowledge of patent law, IP protection, and licensing practices.
-Proven track record of managing licensing agreements and negotiating business contracts.
-Experience in marketing and promoting technology to industry partners.
-Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
-Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
-Experience in establishing business partnerships and innovative deals with private sector entities preferred.
-Knowledge of research and business ethics.
-Ability to utilize AI tools for marketing purposes.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
