Position Summary
This Teaching Assistantship is with the Learning Technology Solutions (LTS) team. In this role you will collaborate with faculty members to leverage technology driven approaches that align with learning objectives and promote student success. This role will be instrumental in facilitating the integration of technology into teaching practices, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement in the educational experience for both faculty and students.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Instruct faculty members how to collaborate in developing technology-driven pedagogical approaches that align with learning objectives and promote student success.
- Conduct webinars and workshops to educate instructors on effective instructional design principles and strategies for integrating technology into their teaching.
- Provide expertise and guidance to faculty in selecting, customizing, and implementing learning management systems and educational tools.
- Guide instructors on the evaluation and assessment of instructional technologies, assisting them in gathering feedback from students to drive improvements.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies that instruct faculty on fostering student engagement and active learning through technology-enhanced activities.
- Offer instructional guidance to faculty members on utilizing educational technologies for formative and summative assessments.
Instruct faculty on best practices for grading and evaluating student performance, such as how to provide input on grades and offer suggestions for improvement when needed.
- Instruct faculty on proctoring and exam administration. teaching faculty how to design effective tests, ensure a fair testing environment, and enforce exam rules.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop multimedia resources, such as interactive presentations and video-based content, to enhance their instruction.
- Deliver personalized consultations and support to instructors, teaching them how to effectively use instructional technologies to enhance their teaching practices.
- Create courses and course elements as instructional designers or learning engineers.
- Design and deploy instructional digital content and assessment mechanisms.
- Design assessments in courses and various specialized software applications.
- Assist instructors to create and fix instructional content and instructional mechanisms that directly support the instructional process.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students in a UIC Master's or Ph.D. program in good academic standing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using learning management systems.
  • Experience with technology troubleshooting.
  • Experience using generative AI.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and consistency.
  • Ability to work on-campus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly professional and ethical manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and meet deadlines.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
