We are seeking a Senior Fiber Engineer to lead the engineering, deployment, and documentation of transmission line fiber installations across our critical utility infrastructure. This role will play a key part in expanding fire mitigation coverage, scaling transmission fiber networks, and supporting MPLS/IP network migration from TDM.

• Lead Transmission Fiber Engineering - Oversee design, installation, and documentation for ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) and OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) fiber across transmission lines.
• Manage Fiber Deployment & Construction - Coordinate overhead and underground fiber projects, ensuring alignment with construction schedules, standards, and compliance requirements.
• Drive Testing & Quality Assurance - Oversee fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and performance validation to ensure reliable network operations.
• Support Network Expansion - Contribute to MPLS/IP network growth and TDM-to-Ethernet transitions to modernize infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams - Work closely with Network Engineering, IT, and Field Operations to deliver integrated fiber solutions.
• Enhance Operational Resilience - Identify and mitigate risks related to contractor dependency, infrastructure expansion, and business-funded remote projects.

• Fiber Engineering Expertise - Hands-on experience with ADSS/OPGW fiber installations, routing, and splicing in utility or telecom environments.
• Network Infrastructure Knowledge - Understanding of fiber transport for SCADA, transmission, and substation communications.
• Construction & Deployment Experience - Familiarity with field and IT construction standards, scheduling, and project execution.
• Strong Problem Solver - Ability to troubleshoot fiber issues, optimize deployment strategies, and ensure network reliability.

• Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
• PLUS five (5) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
• Requires strong technical knowledge within a job area or system and basic knowledge across related technical areas

• PLUS (7) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
• Requires in-depth level of technical knowledge within a job area and working knowledge of other technical areas

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

• Knowledge of all infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS); infrastructure management tools and monitoring tools; solution sizing for hardware/software platforms; industry standard security requirements and designs.
• Troubleshooting; installing and repairing PC hardware and software; advanced design, maintenance and repair of servers; applying creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met; advanced information system configuration management
• Ability to developing and write technical documentation; evaluate and test emerging technologies.
