The successful applicant will utilize proprietary physics-based simulation software, as well as other engineering analysis tools, to help colleagues and customers analyze complex systems.

They will balance foundational analysis with clever design to drive toward simple, relevant, and feasible solutions. He or she should be practical, a capable communicator, demonstrate initiative, understand basic physics that are not intuitive (capable of abstract thought), be a fast adapter of new technology, and work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert analyses of equipment design utilizing new, complex, and proprietary tools for global projects.
  • Own and manage detailed engineering data on components.
  • Timely communication with customer technical support teams of recommendations and rationale.
  • Work among cross functional team to support various initiatives.
  • Teach and mentor mechanical engineers regarding the physics behind the analytical models.
  • Manage physical testing and do benchmarking to verify simulation results.
  • Travel to site installations to validate designs.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
  • Able to travel (25%).
  • Driven by passion for discovering scientific / physical truth rather than status or authority.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborator with technical and cross functional teams.
  • Strong analytic skills that can quickly recognize root causes, think in free body diagrams, and correlate technical decision-making to commercial strategies.
  • Solid foundational understanding of mechanical engineering design formulas.
  • Ability to use CAD/Modeling, MS Office and other widely used software packages.
  • Ability to work with FEA engineers to correlate to empirical physics and predict test results.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Enthusiastic about continuous learning and personal growth.
  • Approaches work with the mindset of making a difference and maximizing value.
  • Self-motivated and managed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Solidworks, Pro-E, or similar 3-D CAD software
  • Experience engineering products made of viscoelastic polymers
