Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is actively seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator for a critical role at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. This position resides within the SZQ organization, which plays a vital part in supporting national missile warning missions. The Systems Administrator III will be responsible for the upkeep, development, and enhancement of an on-premises cloud system, essential for the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) development pipelines. This role is central to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of cloud-based infrastructures that are crucial for the operation and security of mission-critical radar systems. The successful candidate will be pivotal in managing, optimizing, and safeguarding this infrastructure, aligning their efforts with SZQ's strategic objectives in missile defense.

This is a full time position located in Colorado Springs, CO located at Peterson SFB in building 2025.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Design, implementation, and support of Active Directory, DNS, DNSSEC, Certificate Services, and Active Directory Federation Services.
  • Setting up Windows servers, applications, clients, and network services including Linux OS, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS, Internet Information Services, SQL Server, and more.
  • Creating scripts for automating routine tasks and monitoring system performance.
  • Diagnosing and solving software server, software, and networking issues.
  • Maintaining performance metrics and providing regular updates to the technical program manager.
  • Resolving issues and escalating unresolvable ones to the technical program manager.
  • Building rapport with team members, management, stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and interface groups.
  • Executing virus updates, patching, and service pack management, including testing, deployment, staging, and documentation.
  • Designing performance monitoring processes and improving disaster recovery processes utilizing virtualization.
  • Addressing issues related to legacy Windows servers, applications, and operating systems.
  • Assisting in Windows audit and compliance systems.
  • Participating in change and configuration management processes.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Certificates: Must hold a current Security+ CE Certification or an equivalent as per DOD 8570 IAT II certification requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Years of Experience: 15 years directly related experience; to include 8 years of DoD

Additional experience:

  • Quantified experience on various Linux Server OS
  • Must be able to learn quickly and independently, and be a team player

Preferred Qualifications:

Clearance: Top Secret

Certification: System Administration certifications based on DoD 8570 IAT

Education: Bachelor's degree

Years' of experience: 12 years directly related experience; to include 5 years of DoD

Additional experience:

  • Experience in cloud-based infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Other relevant certifications (such as Microsoft, Cisco, Redhat, or VMWare certifications) are advantageous but not mandatory
  • Leadership experience or potential is a plus

Additional Information:

Location: Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs CO - Building 2025

Travel: Potential for minimal travel (less than 10%)

Hybrid: In-office with the potential for hybrid flexibility approx. 1 day a week following the first 6-9 months of employment (subject to change per the customer's discretion)
