Senior Electrical Controls Engineer As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered. This position serves as the technical expert for issues that arise during the maintenance/repair/operation of various industrial equipment including robots. The engineering services include operations, training, planning, procurement for facilities and capital equipment purchases and installation, research, material selection, certification oversight, design, re engineering, evaluation, inspection, standardization, and safety analysis. This office also provides services to support new procurements, installation and set-up of modern technology such as Advanced Manufacturing (AM) and robotics. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Senior Electrical Controls Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) for facility-related projects, ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
- Review design submissions and contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), providing thorough feedback to maintain project accuracy.
- Manage and update technical documentation and project records to ensure organization and currency.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and other technical documents for facility and maintenance projects.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with contract terms and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to create comprehensive SOWs for facility construction and equipment projects under Capital Investment and Military Construction programs.
- Categorize projects as restoration, sustainment, modernization, or new construction to support planning and execution.
- Provide cost estimates and project recommendations to aid budget development and financial planning.
- Coordinate with technical staff to update plant layouts according to operational changes.
- Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various facilities, including administrative buildings, warehouses, and utility structures.
- Generate project reports, technical papers, and documentation for government use.
- Deliver presentations and briefings to stakeholders on project progress, technical details, and recommendations.
- Identify and suggest improvements to plant facilities, equipment, and maintenance processes, including specialized machinery and systems.
- Recommend environmental enhancements related to production and weapons system upgrades.
- Provide independent engineering support for depot missions, including design, improvement, and installation of critical production equipment.
- Apply engineering principles to assess and predict project outcomes across mechanical, industrial, and electronic disciplines.
- Monitor industry and government technology advances relevant to mission overhaul and repair.
- Evaluate current systems' efficiency and recommend cost-effective improvements.
- Conduct market research to identify advanced equipment and technologies aligned with mission needs.
- Develop procurement documentation such as purchase descriptions, Statements of Work, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and cost analyses.
Senior Electrical Controls Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, 10 years of work experience in Maintenance Controls or Electrical-related disciplines may substitute for the degree. DOE Q or Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one. U.S. Citizenship required; dual citizenship is not permitted. Must comply with DoD 8570 CND-IAT I, II, or III certification requirements within six months of hire. Willingness to work shift schedules as needed based on operational demands. Limited travel required, up to 30%. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities. Intermediate knowledge and familiarity with relevant technologies. Customer service-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage effectively with customers and engineers by asking pertinent questions to support issue resolution. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Ability to follow established procedures and work instructions accurately. Proactively identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Broad knowledge of electrical engineering principles, concepts, theories, and practices. Comprehensive understanding of related engineering disciplines including Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Architectural/Facility, and Welding. Experience applying engineering knowledge to equipment repair, overhaul, and manufacturing processes. Expertise in manufacturing technologies such as welding, nondestructive testing, forming, coatings, machining, heat treating, and inspection. Strong grasp of industrial processes, advanced manufacturing techniques, and quality control methods. Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, metal, and mechanical theories relevant to equipment rebuilding, repair, and modification. Practical experience with engines, transmissions, and powertrain components. Understanding of both technical and non-technical engineering aspects including budgeting, justification, procurement, mission objectives, and environmental considerations. Familiarity with equipment purchasing and facility design within project development frameworks. Ability to provide expert technical and management advice, including problem-solving for equipment specifications and facility design reviews. Skilled in addressing unique and complex technical challenges. Proficient in applying procedures, regulations, and policies related to work processes, data control, work authorization, and reporting requirements. Maintain technical credibility through accurate interpretation and application of specifications and standards. Experience developing and reviewing Statements of Work (SOW) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for equipment and facility contracts. Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of interpreting technical documents including instructions, specifications, blueprints, and drawings. Knowledge of welding practices, joint geometry, welding symbols, and adherence to AWS and other relevant welding codes and standards. Understanding of metal properties, alloys, and material behavior. Familiarity with quality systems, control procedures, and organizational quality documentation requirements. Ability to evaluate technical specifications and criteria, including developing comprehensive data when existing information is insufficient. Knowledge of regulatory and industrial policies, with experience applying guidelines and precedents to meet program objectives. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, as well as word processing and spreadsheet tools for technical documentation.
