Position Summary

SGS & Co is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join the Commercial Finance team. The Commercial Finance team works closely with multiple internal departments to develop strategy, pricing, and contract term proposals for new business opportunities and renewals, and drive client profitability initiatives. The Commercial Finance team is located in Chicago, IL, and this role may be hybrid (2 days per week) in Chicago, IL or remote within the Central or Eastern time zones.

This is a highly visible position that will assist our global sales teams with pricing and financial modeling for commercial opportunities. Additionally, this role will be responsible for producing monthly reports, as well as the analysis and presentation of data to help the company make well informed, fact-based decisions. This role will interact with a cross-functional global team. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, possess an inquisitive mindset, and be driven by a dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of their work. Advanced analytical skills, strong financial acumen, and exceptional communication abilities are essential for success in this position.

Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results



  • Build financial models for renewals and new business opportunities to evaluate the profitability of various proposal scenarios, including proper costing, pricing, and allocations.
  • Support reviews of internal client-level data with Sales, Operations, IT, and Finance to understand trends and drivers of profitability, and provide data-driven recommendations to maximize profitability.
  • Analyze and track variances and provide actionable insights to Finance and Commercial teams on risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain reporting to track various commercial and profitability initiatives and deliver internal company information to business stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain analytics to identify trends and/or measure the impact of initiatives, drawing recommendations from your analysis to support all levels of the sales organization.
  • Help develop new and improved Commercial Finance processes to ensure efficient and impactful analyses.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with various global teams including Finance, Commercial, Legal, and Operations to determine their reporting needs and support their growth initiatives.
  • Assist with implementation and adoption of system and/or process improvements.
  • Provide input on ongoing projects, perform ad hoc analyses, and support special projects as necessary and directed by senior management.



Competency Requirements



  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: Highly proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, etc.) and PowerPoint.
  • Curious & Analytical: Possesses an inquisitive and curious mindset; Hungry to learn with a strong ability to dig into details and work with limited data to solve problems.
  • Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of financial and pricing principles and practices.

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convey information concisely in writing and verbally to all levels of employees and senior management.

  • Problem-Solving and Multi-Tasking: Effectively manages tasks and tight deadlines independently with minimal supervision.

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

This position requires the following knowledge and skills:



  • BS in Finance, Economics, or Business
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience in a similar role (i.e., pricing, data analytics, corporate strategy, FP&A, etc.)

This is a remote position in the US. We are open to candidates in various states, with the exception of those residing in the following: AK, DC, DE, ME, NH, NM, OK, HI, MS, MT, NV, NE, ND, SD, VT, WY, WV

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $66,269.50 USD - $82,836.60 USD annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
