STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Finance/Accounting

REPORTS TO: Controller

SUPERVISES: None

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending On Experience)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports Area Management in preparing and creating Journal Entries in The General Ledger System, reconciles General Ledger Accounts, monitor daily General Ledger activities, works with different projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

General Ledger Control:

  • Daily maintenance of General Ledger "GL" which includes daily resolution of unposted or rejected items, opening and closing GL accounts and cost centers.
  • Daily review of the Bank's balance sheet and income statement, provides research and explanation of significant variances to management.
  • Preparation of GL journal entries as needed.
  • Perform callbacks of GL entries made as needed.


Accounts Payable Function:

  • Review incoming check requests and invoices, enter A/P and prepare for review before printing checks.
  • Respond to questions regarding payment and expense coding.
  • Review, reconcile AP daily and resolve outstanding checks.


Monthly:

  • Responsible for the preparation and collection of GL balance sheet account certification reports.
  • Aids in the collection of various reports for the monthly Asset-Liability Committee "ALCO" meetings.


Other:

  • Performs other duties and/or assignments as needed by department management.



QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team-work skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with FIS Horizon core operating system or equivalent preferred
  • Education: College graduate with degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and Power Point.
