The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

Within the National Systems Group, the Systems Engineering & Launch Division (SELD) is seeking a motivated Senior Project Engineer to support and enable Aerospace contributions to the Enterprise Portfolio Manager charged with the Mission Integration/Warfighter Support (MIWS) Capability Area within the customer's Systems Engineering Directorate. The MIWS Enterprise Operations Integrator (Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering) contributes to customer and Aerospace activities for end-to-end architecture, engineering, analysis and cross-enterprise integration of advancement and oversight activities aligned to improved multi-int capabilities and capacities for both Intelligence Community and Department of Defense needs and expectations.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, Virginia, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing day-to-day technical support to issues and efforts across the MIWS customer portfolio and offering advice and counsel as a trusted advisor to that designated customer lead.
  • Assisting the customer to shape and enable advancement and capability development efforts underway with effective technical and operation understanding of end users and the aligned Joint Operational Environment.
  • Supporting and influencing enterprise-level assessments against MIWS activities and offering specific plans of action or mitigation against emerging issues
  • Contribute to Aerospace's end-to-end capability delivery:
    • Provide problem framing and execution oversight to analytic studies aligned to MIWS emerging questions or efforts;
    • Enable the development and maturation of architectural options and recommendations to resolve MIWS complex set of challenges;
    • Inform the enterprise engineering tasks necessary for successful adoption and operational integration.
  • Support MIWS collaboration across other SED customer portfolios, EPM, and office managers with their respective Aerospace integration leads to provide broader awareness and synchronization of policy, system engineering, architecting and analysis efforts within the Aerospace's Systems Engineering Directorate.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements - Senior Project Engineer- Enterprise Systems Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in an appropriate discipline aligned to customer needs.
  • Minimum 10 or more years of increasingly responsible professional experience aligned to systems engineering and operational integration.
  • Relevant technical, programmatic, and operational domain experience particularly aligned to the provisioning and execution of Joint Intelligence and Fires functions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior customer leadership and successfully function within mixed teams comprised of senior government, FFRDC, and SETA personnel.
  • Willing to travel [occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally] approx. 5% of the time.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Experience across multiple customer offices and agencies spanning both the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.
  • Experience within multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments, including comfort with working across architectural, engineering, and analytic domains and across all phases of development, design, and system acquisition.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Aerospace engineering reach-back capabilities and experience with identifying tasks and managing engineering reach-back support.
  • Understanding of and experience with military operations particularly in the command and control, intelligence and fires mission areas.
  • Direct experience with the integration and application of intelligence community tools within operational and tactical military enclaves.
