POSITION TITLE

Encapsys Project Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of capital projects-ranging from small improvements to large-scale installations-within Encapsys manufacturing facilities. This role plays a critical part in supporting commercialization efforts by working cross-functionally with R&D, Safety/HSE, and Process Design teams, as well as external vendors and contractors.

The Project Engineer will develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs), lead project execution, and ensure delivery on safety, budget, performance, and schedule. Travel to domestic and international sites may be required based on project needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and execute capital projects to meet defined success criteria (cost, schedule, safety, and performance).

  • Develop Capital Appropriation Requests with clear scope, timeline, resource requirements, and risk assessments.

  • Prepare technical documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and general arrangement drawings.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and contractors to develop cost-effective, innovative solutions.

  • Support commercialization and process scale-up efforts with the Process Design team.

  • Work closely with the Milliken Corporate Sourcing team to define and execute contract strategies.

  • Track and report project budgets and timelines; manage change requests and mitigation plans.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and design standards throughout project execution.

  • Identify opportunities for improving existing equipment designs, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

  • Coordinate with external suppliers to design and implement new systems for commercial applications.

  • Participate in capital planning and update meetings.

  • Perform project close-out activities and ensure proper documentation.

  • Travel as needed (including international) to support project implementation and facility expansion.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environments, with at least 2 years leading capital projects.

  • Strong understanding of capital project management and execution in industrial settings.

  • Working knowledge of chemical and/or electrical engineering principles.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Capable of assessing safety, cost, and performance trade-offs and recommending improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED

  • Experience with process design, scale-up, or commercialization of new technologies.

  • Comfortable working in both structured and evolving environments.

  • International project experience or willingness to travel globally (Europe, Asia, etc.).
