Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 4:30 PM (with overtime when needed)

Pay: $26 per hour (increase in pay once converted to full-time)

Requirements | Previous buyer experience + MRO purchasing experience is a plus + SAP experience + Computer skills + Steel-toe or composite shoes

Buyer Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for purchasing products, goods, and materials (both stock and non-stock) that align with the organization's standards for price, quality, delivery timing, and supply reliability. The Buyer supports procurement operations for Vallen distribution centers, warehouses, assigned clients, and/or vendors, ensuring seamless supply chain management and inventory optimization.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Execute procurement activities to fulfill current and forecasted demand for products and materials, by Vallen's purchasing strategies and supply chain objectives.
  • Review, analyze, and approve inventory forecasts and daily replenishment recommendations generated by the GAINS application to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Evaluate existing purchase orders to determine the need for expediting or de-expediting to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Generate and process purchase requisitions and vendor purchase orders accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality control and on-time delivery of received products and materials; manage the return process for damaged or defective goods.
  • Negotiate and coordinate vendor returns for obsolete, expired, or excess inventory; assist in inventory liquidation efforts as necessary.
  • Track and follow up on purchase order status with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery and provide regular updates to internal teams and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to resolve issues related to product quality, delivery delays, or order discrepancies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal/external stakeholders to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve accounts payable discrepancies and nonconformance issues with suppliers to ensure accurate financial reconciliation.
