Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Social Worker for Rutgers Student Health- Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services ( CAPS).

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Offers a full range of psychological interventions for students including individual and group treatment, triages, crisis intervention, and clinical case management.
  • Offers prevention, intervention and postvention community-based services for faculty, staff and students.
  • Collaborates with other professionals in a multi-disciplinary University based mental health service.
  • This position will be assigned approximately 50% of the time at CAPS Next Step Program and 50% of the time to the Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance program (VPVA)
  • Services delivered at VPVA will be primarily with survivors of trauma and interpersonal violence and grounded in evidence based interventions for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related concerns.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in social work or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of full-time clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Certification/Licenses: Current State of New Jersey License as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Interest/experience with evidence-based treatments for common concerns for university students including Suicidality, PTSD and other trauma-related conditions, depression, anxiety, affective dysregulation, substance abuse and eating difficulties, etc.
  • Familiarity with developmental issues of college students.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and skill in working with diverse students, staff and faculty.
  • Experience providing evidence-based interventions for young adults who have endured trauma.
  • Proven track record of interest and/or experience in culturally sensitive/informed, structured, mental health care that has relevance for working with a wide range of university students, particularly survivors of trauma or interpersonal violence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified as a Confidential Crisis Response Advocate (or willing to be trained within the first 6 months of employment).
  • Specialized expertise and/or experience in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and with Students of Color.
  • Demonstrated experience in areas relevant to work with university students seeking daytime on- call, walk-in services including Triage/rapid assessment; suicide and violence risk screening; skills necessary to conduct brief assessments and to offer guidance for students to pursue appropriate levels of care to address acute and/or persistent concerns (including inpatient, partial hospital and intensive outpatient levels of care).
  • At least two years experience working with survivors of trauma or interpersonal violence.

  • Medicat Electronic Health Record.
  • Collaborate Database.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Special Conditions

  • The position requires travel to various locations each week which could be anywhere on the New Brunswick campus (most locations accessible through the campus bus system).
  • Clean Driving Record.
