Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and one year of experience in shelter operations and/or security required.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong de-escalation skills.
- Ability to competently supervise, accept supervision, and effectively contribute to the team.
- Work well with diverse clients and respect confidentiality; work within ethical and legal parameters.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite and the onsite camera security system.
- Valid Driver's License and must meet the MVR driver's qualifications, preferred.
- Must pass The Salvation Army background checks.
- Willingness to support the philosophy, goals, and objectives of The Salvation Army.
- Must be able to successfully complete CPR/First Aid, CPI, and Bloodborne Pathogen certification.
- Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and Safe From Harm training must be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Position Summary The Lead Security Monitor assists in the overall management and supervision of the security team, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients, staff, and visitors. The Lead is responsible for monitoring the building and occupants and for responding to and appropriately managing crisis and emergency situations. This is a regular, fulltime position. - Act as on-site supervisor in absence of other management, ensure policies and procedures are followed.
- Assist in guiding, mentoring, and training the security team.
Security
- Support clients in following rules and expectations to assist them in maintaining their program eligibility.
- Monitor the property and occupants; complete rounds, monitor cameras, and control building access.
- Safely recognize and quickly respond to crisis situations; deescalating and utilizing the least restrictive approach (may include approved physical intervention techniques, as a last resort).
- Competently follow the Harbor Light Safety and Security Management Plan.
- Respond to safety concerns in a timely manner, contacting emergency personal/management as needed.
- Escort staff, visitors, and clients, as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, professional, timely, and non-judgmental verbal and written communication.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner, including logs, incident reports, and statistics.
- Ensure areas contaminated with body fluids are cleaned and disinfected in a safe and timely manner, assisting on occasion.
Working Conditions There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients. The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk Level Risk Level 2 - The tasks or activities conducted by Risk Level 2 workers do not involve reasonably anticipated exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, but could result in such exposure in non-routine, emergency situations.
