Coordinates scheduling for assigned hospital departments in collaboration with Schedule Coordinator and other members of the health care team. Responsible and accountable for charges, maintaining data, and utilizing O.R. Management/Hospital Information System.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years secretarial/clerical experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Enters and maintains accurate and complete procedure data, enters and updates patient charges. Generates statistical reports and organizes records and documents with accordance to hospital policies, procedures and governmental regulations relevant to the needs of the department.

2. Coordinates and schedules procedures for designated departments and refers requests beyond established policies to the appropriate individuals.

3. Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of the O.R. Management System with Information Systems.

4. Refines the scheduling system through continued interaction with Clinical Director/Clinical Manager, Anesthesia, or designated individuals.

5. Pre-registers patients in computer system according to Hospital Admission/Registration guidelines.

6. Collaborates with physicians' office staff to maintain effective working relationships and to provide education for new office staff members.

7. Schedules special services for procedures (i.e., Greenlight Laser, CDI Monitoring, Lithotripsy).

8. Plans and prioritizes daily workload to meet needs of the department. Enters patient information into Cerner within 24 hours per policy.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.

2. Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.

3. Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary.

4. Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
