Job purpose

Perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Direct the efforts of the warehouse personnel to receive and ship all orders in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain warehouse (interior and exterior). Maintain inventory accuracy and equipment. Process all paperwork and accurately account for all products received. Advise General Manager of all logistic issues. Supervises warehouse staff. Determine how to ship products, receiving, stocking, customer service parts, warranty work, service calls. Move closeout merchandise. Schedules trucks. Negotiate truck freight quotes and participate in carrier tariff review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs the efforts of the warehouse personnel to receive and ship all orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Unloading, sorting, and staging products from inbound trucks and containers manually and with power industrial trucks (PIT).
  • Accurately pull products for Will Call pick-ups and shipments; Manually pull specialized, non-RF scanner product as needed (sample chairs, parts, literature, etc.) for shipment.
  • Sorting and placing stock products on racks, shelves or in bins according to assigned Bin location.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 50-80 lbs., occasionally team-lift and/or team-move objects that weigh 80-150 lbs.
  • Process picks and quality check shipments and Will Call shipments.
  • Prepare, schedule and execute customer pick up for Will Call orders.
  • Receiving and scheduling pick-up - return authorizations.
  • Inform General Manager of shortages/damages to incoming and outgoing freight.
  • Report unusual or consistent freight damages from carriers to General Manager.
  • Design warehouse layout.
  • Establish appropriate stocking levels in warehouse.
  • Lead inventory control: enter adjustments as required.
  • Ensure ample inventory of warehouse supplies (tools, pallets, gloves, shrink wrap, etc.).
  • Lead and train assembly of product for showroom, samples, and trade shows.
  • Completed, maintain daily/weekly maintenance of warehouse equipment.
  • Communicate any issues with specific shipping, delivery, packaging, and tagging requirement to Customer Care or General Manager.
  • Respond to both internal and external customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Lead team to complete work accurately, timely and with ahigh level of attention to detail.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; sweep, dust and mop; always organize warehouse and work area for orderliness.
  • Safely operate all warehouse PIT including forklifts, reach trucks, stock pickers, clamp trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Lead and train on proper use of warehouse tools and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain relations with Vender representatives (Carriers, Pallet, Supplier, PIT, Dock Doors, etc.).
  • Ensure warehouse team wears all proper safety equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ensure all safety guidelines, per company policies and guidelines are followed by warehouse team.
  • Meet regularly with General Manager.
  • Address personnel issues through supportive counseling and offer development opportunities as needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork to enhance productivity and morale.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent from 4-year college or technical school preferred.
  • 5+ years previous warehouse operations with 3+ years in supervisory or management role.
  • Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain warehouse facility equipment and supplies.
  • Positive demeanor that allows for strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, ales personnel, and internal staff.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Certified forklift operator and familiarity with operating and maintaining warehouse equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Proficient in RF scanner and other warehouse management systems
  • Ability to pass PIT certifications provided by Global.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Works well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain warehouse facility equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot and/or cold weather conditions.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 50-80lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh 80-150 lbs.

Physical requirements

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job the employee is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally required to work in high precarious places. The employee is occasionally required to work near fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally required to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally required to work in extreme heat.
