Has responsibility and accountability for improving the efficiency of clinical, operational and financial processes of Perioperative Services, and the satisfaction of internal and external customers., Provides the framework, coordination, and direction for the systemic monitoring and evaluation of process improvements projects with medical, nursing and support services to plan, organize, facilitate and implement efforts to improve process efficiencies, and positively effect service throughout Perioperative Services. Transmits values, communicating ideas, initiating and maintaining programs and systems and continuously assesses the practice environment. Provides project management expertise necessary to drive significant breakthroughs within Perioperative Services. Responsible for independent acting in project oversight, systems design and implementation of special projects. Uses Six Sigma, LEAN, change management and acceleration (e.g. CAP, Workout), and other available performance improvement methodologies to achieve these goals., Utilizes available databases to provide financial and operational recommendations and assess the impact of acceptable clinical options. Continually monitors and performs monthly review of operating results.

Responsibilities
- 1. Strategically leads and manages the discovery, execution, maintenance and sustainment of new programs within YNHH Operating Rooms, assuring repeatability and financial feasibility through tthe health system: new services, new procedures, new robotics systems and new surgeons. Provides high-level and strategic change management leadership in meeting goals and objectives
- 2. Manage implementation of new programs at YNHH, building reproducible and standardized processes. Provide consistent leadership, team building and collaboration, multi-disciplinary and departmental project management, process improvement and program development skills and expertise to the organization and the programs/projects in which you are assigned. a. Program development and coordination throughout entire program lifecycle; patient clinical/emotional selection criteria, EHR management, clinical considerations, marketing development, security requirements, and pre/post- surgical care coordination.
- 3. Creation and implementation of new processes, and/or change of processes required in support of the programmatic and system goals.
- 4. Strategic leader that influences and communicates with all levels of clinical, financial, and operational management within YNHHS concerning team goals and progress. Utilizes data analysis, EPIC/JDAT partnerships and additional systems supporting initiative-taking management
- 5. Influences, aligns, and manages multi-disciplinary teams across functional boundaries, both internal and external. Develop, implement and evaluate strategic plans, goals, objectives and establish budget and timelines required for the successful completion of assigned initiatives. Proposes process technology improvements to assure successful completion. Use quality and process improvement methodologies in both individual and cross-functional team settings to enhance productivity, efficiencies, quality, and customer satisfaction. Drives measurable and sustainable improvement within Perioperative Services to streamline processes and eliminate defects.
- 6. Uses Six Sigma, CAP, LEAN and Workout methodologies to achieve process improvement. Provides mentoring to other employees and assigned interns on the philosophy, application, tool usage and methodologies of Six Sigma, CAP, LEAN and Workout and other performance improvement methodologies. Facilitates integration of methodology with external vendors, leadership, patients and customers.
- 7. Robotics Program Administrative Lead: a. Lead operational efficiency initiatives via alignment of key stakeholders across internal departments, optimizing robotics system processes to enhance program metrics and consistencies across Yale Health System. b. Lead inventory management intiatives focused on standardizing robotics inventory ordering, replacement, and management processes. c. Manage visiting surgeons and health systems in detailed robotics program overview sessions and discussions. Including, but not limited to, acting as point of contact, coordination between teams and finalizing required documentation. d. Build required robotics processes and infrastructure to track, monitor and manage increased robotics requests and utilization. e. Partner with robotics vendors, clinical staff, and program leadership in the development of data dashboard to drive imporvements and optimized solutions. f. Implement new robotics systems based on best practices and streamlined processes
- 8. Provides key financial, operational, and clinical data highlighting business and operational issues requiring management attention and resources. Participates in departmental task forces and committees to provide operational input.
- 9. Designs and utilizes dashboards and reports (both at Executive and Team levels) to monitor key critical quality measurements and operational goals. Drives utilization of dashboards by all team members. Assures real time and digital access to dashboards by all team members. Assures real time and digitial access to dashboards. Develops analyses that meet users' needs and support YNHH business plan relating to Perioperative Services. Provides seamless clinical and financial data in a usable format allowing for the identification, analysis, and evaluation of alternative strategies as solutions of business and operational issues requiring management attention. Uses data to continually model volume, revenue, expense, demographic and payer mix, and clinical process changes and their departmental and institutional impact.
- 10. Benchmark both internal and external business processes to identify best in class processes and bring them into use for Perioperative Services and Yale New Haven Hospital. Provides seamless clinical and financial data in a useable format allowing for identification, analysis, and evaluation of alternative strategies as solutions of business and operational issues requiring management attention. Baselines, improves and controls measurement systems, reporting mechanisms and data accuracy for all related master data.
- 11. Develops digital solutions as part of the process change control plan where practical. Simplify process inputs and outputs to create standardization and improve execution. Where differentiation is required, utilizes, process improvement to ensure all unique processes are executed.
- 12. Promotes professional accountability for clincial practice improvements. Leads, influences and motivates groups within Perioperative Services to critcally examine practice.
- 13. Facilitates with Perioperative Executive Team necessary changes in the governance, managerial support and clincial processes that affect outcomes across Perioperative Services.
- 14. Promotes consistency of practice within and across Perioperative Services. Uses clinical knowledge and skill in database analysis to identify opportunities to positively influence practice.
- 15. Teaches process improvement management methodologies, study designs, statistical analysis, and problem solving related to process analysis. Uses teaching/learning theories and principles to foster the educational development of staff and self. Provides education in the approach of methods of quality assessment and improvement throughout Perioperative Services management and staff involved in monitoring and evaluation of projects.
- 16. Networks with other healthcare robotics professionals to keep abreast of changes in the robotics field, to benchmark with other organizations, and to gain access to new ideas outside the organization.
- 17. Manges facilities projects and responsible for environment of care in all Perioperative Service areas.
Qualifications
EDUCATION Bachelor Degree required; Masters preferred EXPERIENCE Three to five years experience with demonstrated leadership experience and performance improvement experience preferred. LICENSURE PMP Certification preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS Knowledge and experience of CAP, Workout, Six Sigma, and LEAN is preferred. Proven analytical / problem-solving skills. Outstanding communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Strong computer skills (e.g., Excel. PowerPoint and Minitab). Demonstrated ability to successfully lead process change.
