Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Assistant the School of Communication and Information - Library & Info Science department. This project currently has funding to appoint a staff assistant for one year.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Works with the Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science on the NSF-funded project entitled "Towards a Privacy-Preserving Framework for the Study of Information on Private, Encrypted Social Networks."
- Participates in collecting and processing digital data, managing computer systems, and assisting in writing funding proposals and academic papers.
- Participates in active research; collect, process, clean, and analyze digital data from a variety of online sources including social media.
- Builds and manages the research infrastructure to support the project.
- Manages computer servers, install patches, coordinate and project user access to data.
- Assists in writing research funding proposals to funders.
- Participates in writing academic papers for publication.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to manage multiple assignments by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
