Title: Director, Strategic Programs & Performance

Reports to: VP, Genie Information Technology

Location: Bothell, WA (or remote)

Relocation: N/A

Travel: Estimated 25% travel, both domestic and international.

The Director, Strategic Programs & Performance is a key leadership role within the IT organization of Genie, responsible for driving the successful execution of strategic initiatives that align technology delivery with business priorities. With a focus on Agile execution, value realization, and enterprise collaboration, this role ensures programs are governed effectively, deliver measurable outcomes, and operate with speed and clarity.

Working across IT and business teams, the Director will lead efforts to simplify and accelerate program delivery, foster innovation, and establish scalable Centers of Excellence in areas such as AI, Data, Governance, and Performance Management. By aligning initiatives with strategic goals and promoting transparency, prioritization, and continuous improvement, this role helps elevate the impact of IT in achieving business outcomes.

What you'll do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Program Execution: Lead the oversight of high-impact IT initiatives that align with business and technology strategies. Ensure programs are executed effectively within governance frameworks, delivering measurable value and supporting enterprise objectives.
  • Performance Management & Value Realization: Define and implement mechanisms to track performance, measure outcomes, and report value delivered across key initiatives. Promote data-driven decision-making and ensure strategic alignment through clear performance metrics.
  • Business Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between IT capabilities and business goals. Act as a conduit between technical teams and business functions to drive clarity, prioritization, and shared accountability.
  • Agile Delivery & Execution Excellence: Promote Agile practices and continuous delivery methodologies to accelerate execution and improve responsiveness. Streamline delivery models, reduce friction, and champion operational effectiveness across teams.
  • Centers of Excellence (CoEs): Support the establishment and scaling of Centers of Excellence in domains such as AI, Data & Analytics, Program Governance, and Value Management. Drive knowledge sharing, standardization, and maturity in key capabilities.
  • Governance & Prioritization: Support intake, prioritization, and governance processes to ensure the right initiatives are funded, resourced, and aligned to strategic priorities. Drive transparency and accountability through consistent program oversight.
  • Innovation Enablement: Encourage experimentation and new ways of working across the IT organization. Leverage emerging technologies and practices to improve execution, collaboration, and long-term strategic delivery.
  • Organizational Enablement: Help the IT function operate as a high-performing organization by refining operating rhythms, improving stakeholder communications, and enabling leadership visibility into key risks, dependencies, and opportunities.

What you'll bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, business operations, or program management within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven track record leading strategic programs or enterprise-level initiatives, with clear outcomes tied to business value.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery models, portfolio management, and modern program execution frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business and IT functions, influencing without authority and driving consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with performance management, value realization, or benefits tracking for large-scale initiatives.
  • Skilled in establishing or maturing Centers of Excellence, governance processes, or strategic delivery capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, executive reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to distill complex topics for senior audiences.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a bias toward simplifying execution and enabling decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in Information Systems, Strategy, Organizational Leadership, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting a senior IT executive or business unit CIO, with exposure to executive decision-making and organizational planning.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or engineering-focused industries is a strong plus.
  • Experience standing up or leading transformation programs, digital innovation efforts, or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern IT operating models, enterprise architecture practices, and emerging technologies such as AI and advanced analytics.

Salary: The compensation range for this position is $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
