Maintenance Front Line Supervisor

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Memphis, TN maintenance team in the position of Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance FLS is responsible for the effective and safe execution of daily maintenance activities performed by IFF mechanics and provides leadership for all maintenance work within the unit/site. The Maintenance FLS is responsible for performance management, improvement & utilization of maintenance management systems and development of their maintenance organization. The Maintenance FLS ensures maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety, health, and regulatory standards to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all maintenance and engineering processes to ensure machinery and equipment are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with internal customers (Production, WH, etc.) and manage the resource of repair activities to ensure they are completed promptly and do not disrupt production schedules. The resource can be internal or 3rd party contractor arrangement.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts by managing inventory and on-time purchase.
  • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Manage work schedules for maintenance technicians to ensure adequate and fair workload of technicians.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety and quality regulations and standards to protect workers, contractors, and equipment.
  • Enforce the compliance of IFF permit system to internal technicians and contractors.
  • Create and implement maintenance policies and procedures to standardize operations and improve efficiency.
  • Organize and lead training sessions for maintenance staff to keep them updated on SOP, best practices, and new technologies.
  • Enforce the culture of continuous improvement.
  • Actively implement Operating System (tier 1) within the internal E&M and participate in department and plant tier meetings as part of positive continuous improvement and problem solving.
Requirements:We are looking for an effective, results-driven, self-directed and motivated team player who communicates in an open, honest manner. In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with the engineering and maintenance field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a people leader or experience leading a project.
  • Intermediate mechanical skills: proficiency with and machinery, including the ability to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Intermediate electrical knowledge: understanding electrical systems and the safety risk and precaution.
  • Intermediate plumbing skills: understanding plumbing systems for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Intermediate HVAC knowledge: understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems - preferred.
  • Knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead change and deliver results.
  • Highly collaborative and team player.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing operation with Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety requirements where applicable.
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
