Job Description
Lead an R&D team to execute projects in new products and/or processes aligned to customer and business needs. Using business and technical knowledge, connects to all phases of product development and support, from concept to close, and is a key cross-functional and customer liaison. Leadership may include areas such as: research, applications development, materials enhancements and/or cost-out initiatives. This role typically has in-depth expertise in more than one technical work area. While the role mostly balances short- to mid-term project, the team also leads efforts toward long-term progress of multi-generational product plans and is responsible leading to meet short and long-term targets for the assigned area. Resolves issues which can include varied, non-routine circumstances and may require more sophisticated analytical/problem solving techniques to identify causes. WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Lead a team, working cross functionally, to that is accountable for the design and development of product, process, and/or other technical solutions that deliver value for our customers and Amcor.
- Be a facilitative leader, ensuring alignment, engagement and development. Enhance the knowledge and skills of the organization.
- Balance a portfolio of projects that support growth, cost take outs and de-risking for customers and the business.
- Leverage market, customer and business intelligence to identify trends and emergent technologies to lead to growth.
- Contribute technical skills and aptitude for problem solving toward regional and global challenges
- Leverage strong knowledge of materials and processes to influence design solutions across the organization
- Ensure standard products are leveraged ahead of developing innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with marketing on trends found to ensure aligned strategic approaches.
- Collaborate with sales in building and sharing technical acumen that understands and delivers customer-valued solutions.
- Collaborate with operations on complex operations challenges such as machine support and product transfers as well as ensuring technical specifications are clearly delivered to support optimum manufacturability.
- Understand market and customer trends and needs
- Facilitate processes to address challenges, ensuring proper data gathering, analysis and communication.
- Support a culture of continuous curiosity and learning with business impact.
- Leverage standard processes such as: building technical specifications, designing experiments, conducting statistical data analysis, executing stage gate, technical reporting, IP, etc.
- Guide large-scale product or process development activities for an assigned unit, market or technology
- Provide recommendations and/or input for capital projects and ensure team participation.
- Partner in developing business cases for product and/or technology research.
- Support planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, developing and implementing new and/or enhanced core materials, products and/or processes for an assigned unit, market or technology.
- Challenge the status quo to uncover opportunities that drive collaboration across functions, accountability and growth.
- Collaborate with other R&D leaders in leveraging technology applications across teams.
- Support staff resource planning.
- Leverage abilities from global innovation center network.
- In partnership with Director, develop and maintain a budget.
- Learn and/or build best practices that drive innovation in solutions provided.
- Investigates new customer requests and works with team members to develop and propose strategy to provide new packaging solutions to meet those needs
- Generate pertinent reports and information for customer and business uses.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
- A Graduate/Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of demonstrated, progressive success in a technical capacity within a global manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of leadership in a large, matrix organization
- Demonstration of conceptual thinking to understand complex issues, apply judgment and proceed an agenda proactively
- Demonstrated successful experience in developing new platforms and advancing technologies
- Demonstrated successful experience in providing coaching and feedback
- Six sigma certification/training preferred
