Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Health System Director, Development - Major Gifts (Children's Services).

In this role, the Director of Development plays an important role within the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs and is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to attract funding for NYU Langone Health. This position is responsible for fundraising from individual donors and prospects at the major gifts level, with a focus on six- and seven-figure gifts, and an expected annual fundraising goal of $7M.
This role is a critical part of the overarching strategy to engage and steward children's services largest benefactors and emerging leaders. This individual is also a primary liaison and strategic thought partner for advisory boards, managing member cultivation and fundraising activity. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, driven by results and thriving in a fast-paced, metrics-oriented environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with Chair(s), Directors, and physicians to identify, cultivate, solicit, close gifts $100K+ and steward donors and prospects.
  • Serves as the development liaison and strategic partner to advisory boards, working with multi-disciplinary teams throughout the department to create and execute engagement, cultivation, and stewardship programming that lead to and advance major gift solicitations.
  • Works strategically and collaboratively with colleagues across the office within the teams of Major Gifts, Gift Planning, Donor Experience/Events, Alumni, Stewardship, Communications, Foundation Relations, Community Partnerships, Direct Response, Prospect Research and Development Administration, to advance gift strategy and conversations.
  • Documents all development activity related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and reporting/stewardship using the TRAX database.
  • Researches and writes briefings to prepare NYU Langone Leadership (Executive Leadership Group, Chairs and Trustees) and faculty to ensure effective meetings with major donors.
  • Prepares letters of inquiry and proposals to prospects and donors on behalf of NYU Langone faculty.
  • Participates in and leads one-on-one cultivations and solicitations, as well as individual and group tours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree required
9-10+ years of relevant experience
Successful track record in major gifts fundraising at the six- and seven-figure level, with demonstrated experience in moves management
Experience in the successful management, engagement, and expansion of fundraising leadership boards
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines and fundraising goals
High level of energy and creativity in order to introduce and champion new ideas and secure transformational philanthropy
Self-motivated and results-oriented
Familiarity with software applications, including standard Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with the ability to adapt and learn as these tools evolve
Experience with development databases
Works strategically, collaboratively, respectfully, and professionally with colleagues across all teams within the department. Communicates clearly, shares, listens and recognizes others contributions
Possesses the presence, inclusivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
Develops and enhances relationships through authenticity, professionalism and trust
Facilitates understanding through listening and crafting and delivering messages that meet the needs of different audiences
Takes ownership of opportunities, challenges and decisions to drive work and the organization forward
Has the ability to lead, direct and motivate others; encourages and ensures professional development opportunities for reporting staff and acts as a mentor. Meets with reporting staff individually and as a full team

Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of management experience preferred
Experience in academic medical center fundraising and strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape in childrens health preferred
Graduate degree preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $171,990.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
