Position Overview

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Athletics,the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations is responsible for overseeing and leading strategic marketing, fan engagement, brand management, and all corporate sales for the ENMU Athletics Department. This role emphasizes innovative ideas and strategic vision to drive revenue growth through effective collaboration among units, enhancing the fan experience, and strengthening the connection between Greyhound Athletics and its sponsors, donors and ticket holders.This position is a key member of the athletics department's senior leadership team and provides strategic vision and operational oversight to all areas of external relations with an advisory role with all aspects of the administration of a comprehensive NCAA Division II athletics program.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight and leadership for strategic marketing, fan engagement, sponsorship enhancement, game day promotions, and brand promotion.
  • Develops and executes strategies to drive revenue growth through sponsorship sales, ticket sales and brand consistency
  • Assists the Director of Athletics with special events related to promotion of athletics among the local, regional and Eastern New Mexico University communities (i.e., alumni gatherings, annual Hall of Honor induction ceremony, fundraising golf tournaments, team reunions)
  • Engages with potential corporate sponsors to demonstrate the benefits of partnering with ENMU Athletics
  • Manages the ENMU Athletics Department's advertising inventory and provide stewardship to ENMU Athletics Corporate Sponsors, including the implementation of promotional activities to increase athletics attendance
  • Assists the Director of Athletics with fundraising efforts and other external relations responsibilities
  • Assists with the management of premium services/benefits to select corporate sponsors and donors
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with local, regional and national partners to increase visibility and awareness of ENMU Athletics
  • Maintains accurate records of sales and marketing calls/visits and related travel expenses
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of demonstrated marketing, sales or fundraising experience
  • At least three years of experience in collegiate athletics, or a related field preferred
  • A valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment is also required, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and relationship building skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance practices
  • Knowledge of fan engagement, marketing, sponsorship sales, and brand management
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Skills and experience to manage a budget and monitor expenses and revenues related to corporate sponsorships
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the ENMU Development and Communications Departments and other internal leadership groups
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II Athletics and the Lone Star Conference
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in changing circumstances
  • Critical thinking skills


Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Mobility: Ability to move about an office setting, attend meetings, and travel occasionally to event sites, vendor locations, or campuses as needed.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally required to lift or carry marketing materials, displays, or promotional items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Standing/Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer workstation; occasional standing during presentations or event setup.
  • Visual Acuity: Sufficient vision to read printed materials and electronic screens; ability to visually inspect marketing materials for quality and accuracy.
  • Hearing/Speaking: Ability to hear and respond to others in person or via phone/video conferencing; must be able to speak clearly and effectively.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, printers, and standard office equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Primarily indoor office environment; Work is performed during regular work hours but will require frequent evening and weekend hours and frequent traveling.
